Crisis in Alligatortown

Alligatortown Chronicles

By R.P. BIRT

Once upon a time... In the aftermath of the events at Alligator River, the bridge was finally repaired and life appeared to be returning to normal in Alligatortown.

Gregory was visited at the hospital by the police and Slug was charged with assault. Slug claimed that Gregory started it. Although Legal-Aide was provided for his defence, neighbours began a fund to assist with legal costs.

Sinbad had more time on his hands (due to the bridge being fixed) and took to spending his time with his friends in the local pub sharing stories of his exploits, recalling the “old days” with his former partner Greg Sr. owner of the bridge and the Alligator Purse and Belt Company.

The pub became more active as more of the bridge-workers were laid off and the fishermen waited for the rest of the fleet to be repaired.

Abigail’s name began to appear in the local news as a “possible accomplice” to the “beating”. She was photographed leaving the police station.

Sinbad's grandchild was beaten up in the school yard and a bystander was hurt in the fracas. Rumours began to circulate that the incident was racially motivated.  Zorian and other minority groups demanded an inquiry into the incident.

The town grew tense as people began to take sides. Groups of "friends of" began to gather on the street corners and taunt each other.

Vana, as the Senior Administrator in the Mayor's Office, urged J. T. Mayor, the Mayor to call out the riot squad. B.J. cautions J.T. to get more advice before taking any action. J.T., concerned about the spread of conflict, called a meeting of advisors.

And as the sun set on the horizon, a TV crew was setting up their cameras.
