    May I ask your advice. I have a carved jade pendant showing a bird in a peach tree. A Chinese lady advised me that it is not a Chinese piece because to Chinese a bird is bad luck because it can fly away ! I am sure I have seen this combination of a bird in a peach tree before and from my limited understanding, the peach stands for longevity and the bird prosperity.
    Any information would be much appreciated.

    I thought I had photographed a pair of birds for Susan’s blog…. …and this piece is definitely Chinese … however, sometimes a symbol can have more than one meaning depending on the circumstance or what they are associated with…
